IBM Aspera Product Updates from IBC2025

At the IBC2025 conference, PacGenesis and IBM Aspera were pleased to provide the latest updates around Aspera software and SaaS solutions.

Aspera is the world leader in high-speed data transfer solutions, enabling customers to move data at any size over any distance, with a combination of on-premise self-managed software deployments, and SaaS solutions across the major public cloud infrastructure providers.

Highlights shared at IBC2025 include released software and SaaS updates including:

  • General availability of IBM Aspera for desktop, the latest web-enabled client software from Aspera. This client replaces Aspera Connect, and works with Aspera webapps such as Faspex, Shares, and Aspera on Cloud. It includes in-app updates, a modern interface, automation capability, and no longer requires a browser extension in Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.
  • Support for Linux on ARM architecture for IBM Aspera High-Speed Transfer Server. Running on ARM instances allows for lower compute charges. Customers that have switched their deployment strategy for transfer clusters have noted direct cost savings of up to 50% for the same overall performance.
  • A new experience for Node and Shared Folder management in Aspera on Cloud (AoC). The application now uses Bearer tokens instead of access key/secret. This change makes administration easier, removing the need to handle sensitive credentials for everyday management tasks.
  • Quality-of-life updates for Aspera Enterprise apps. New releases in 1H2025 for Faspex, Shares, and Console help modernize underlying components, and also include security updates, bugfixes, and user experience enhancements.

Upcoming changes for 2H2025 highlighted at IBC2025 include:

  • Orchestrator v4.1 release. This version update will modernize underlying components, enable better scalability and availability, and will include refreshes and updates for many packaged plugins.
  • The initial launch of a new Kubernetes-based web application product – IBM Aspera Enterprise WebApps (AEW) – with the goal of being the future complete control plane for Aspera collaboration, automation, and data transfer.
  • An update for Console, that will send alerts for stalled file transfers.
  • The next generation of HTTP Gateway (v3), completely re-written from scratch, supporting increased workloads and secure transfers. HTTP Gateway provides a top-tier experience for supporting file transfers at the highest possible speeds even when end-users are unable to install Aspera software.
  • Deeper integration in Aspera on Cloud for Trend Micro anti-malware and anti-virus scanning. This builds upon the existing PacGenesis integration, already available for AoC, Faspex, Shares, and HSTS.
  • An update for AoC Packages that can send users a warning 24 hours before package expiration if it has not been downloaded.
  • AoC Automation enhancements that will allow administrators to disable or duplicate workflows even if they are not the owner.

PacGenesis is the world’s premier IBM Aspera partner. Please contact us to schedule a meeting to discuss these updates in detail, and how we can use them to modernize and enable your digital content workflows.
